Past Events and Workshops

Would you like to learn new ways to:

• Overcome writing blocks easily?
• Free creativity?
• Face and release fear of failure/success?
• Center yourself and find "the zone"?
• Improve your focus on your project?
• Let go of procrastination?

If so, come join a supportive group of like-minded writers where you will learn energy medicine techniques to enhance your writing process as well as your health and well-being. Energy medicine harnesses the body's naturally occurring electro-magnetic fields in order to improve the balance of the overall system. Acupuncture is one form of energy medicine which uses needles in key points of the physical body to remove energy blocks and promote healing. Instead of needles, this class uses self-help techniques such as acupressure, breath work, and simple exercises to achieve similar effects. Writers of all levels, whether just starting out or an established pro, will benefit from these techniques. Class size is limited to five students per class in order to allow for highly individualized attention.

The class is a four session series being offered at two times:
Tuesdays afternoon from 2:00-4:00, July 16, 23, 30, August 6
Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:30, July 17, 24, 31, August 14 (no class August 7)
The location is the Generations Studio at 222 East 75th Street, apt LC, NYC.

The teacher, Sheryl Dluginski, is an Eden Energy Medicine Certified Practitioner, a writer and a Pilates and yoga instructor. She is a regular fitness and wellness columnist for DNAinfo. The techniques covered in this class have proved indispensable to her own writing process. Read Sheryl's recent health and fitness columns here

In Class 1 you will learn the basics of Energy Medicine and how it can help you achieve your writing goals as well as improve your health and well-being.

In Class 2 you will learn how to use energy testing to identify and release subconscious thought patterns that inhibit your progress on writing projects.

In Class 3 you will learn how to utilize additional tools such as essential oils and movement to support your energies as you progress toward your writing goals.
In Class 4 we will review and practice your new skills and knowledge, answer questions, and make a concrete plan for incorporating these new techniques into your own writing process.

The fee is $150 for the four-class series. Scholarships are available on a case-by-case basis.

This session introduces participants to a sampling of easily accessible meditation and relaxation practices to promote a sense of “calm within the storm.” Modern scientific research is now confirming what yogis and sages have known for millennia: meditation not only reduces stress and promotes relaxation, it also reshapes the brain for the better, leading to improved attention, concentration, and memory. Participants in this workshop will learn several meditation techniques designed to increase a sense well-being and ease in the face of life’s challenges. The session will include the experiential practice of meditation, some mindful movement, and an opportunity for discussion. All are welcome!
