Frequently Asked Questions
How often do I need to work with a trainer to see results?
The frequency of training necessary varies from client to client based on current fitness level, individual goals, and degree of self-motivation. Some Generations clients work with Sheryl 2 or 3 days per week and do cardio or cross-training on their own. Others do a high intensity strength training program with Sheryl once a week and complete lower intensity strength training, cardio and other homework assignments on their own. In general, the more often you train the more quickly you will see results and reach your goals. Some clients who are very self-motivated and disciplined reach their goals while meeting with Sheryl as little as once or twice per month. Training frequency is highly individual and is also dependent on financial and scheduling issues.
Where do training sessions take place?
The Generations Fitness studio, located on the upper east side of Manhattan at 222 East 75th Street, Apt LC, has an array of strength training, Pilates and yoga equipment. All sessions are private one-on-one sessions unless arrangements have been made for a semi-private session (see below). While most clients train at the studio, others train at select gyms around Manhattan and Long Island or choose to work in the comfort and privacy of their home or office. Outdoor training at local parks is also an option.
How much does personal training cost?
Training can be purchased in packages of 1, 5,10 or 25 sessions. The larger the package, the smaller the cost per session. Memberships with discounted monthly billing are available to clients who make a 6 or 12 month commitment. Prices range from $120 to $180 per session depending on the package or program you choose. Sliding scale rates are available on a case-by-case basis. Contact Sheryl for details.
I have health challenges (such as arthritis, diabetes, osteoporosis, musculoskeletal problems, heart disease, cancer). Is it safe for me to work with a trainer?
Absolutely. Sheryl is a certified Advanced Health and Fitness Specialist. She has extensive experience helping people with a wide variety of medical issues. In fact, the vast majority of Generations clients are successfully dealing with and overcoming some sort of health challenge(s).
Can I train with a friend or family member?
Yes. Semi-private and small group sessions are available and have a few advantages. Some clients find the social aspects of training with others more fun and motivating. Sharing the cost with training partner(s) makes the sessions more affordable. Clients with similar goals and training styles often find that semi-private sessions allow them to feed off of each other's successes, maintain interest, and break through plateaus.
